About Us

Christina Development Corporation (“Christina”) is a real estate investment company founded in 1977 and headquartered in Malibu, California. On November 21, 2013, Christina launched its first private equity real estate company (“Christina Real Estate Investors 1, LLC” or “Christina 1”). On September 1, 2016, Christina launched its second private equity real estate company (“Christina Real Estate Investors 2, LLC” or “Christina 2”).

Since inception, Christina has specialized in acquiring, developing, redeveloping, financing, syndicating, and operating investment grade multi-family residential and commercial income-producing properties in the ultra-prime sub-markets of West Los Angeles, California including Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Century City, Malibu, Santa Monica, Westwood, West Hollywood, and Venice/Silicon Beach.

Lawrence N. Taylor

Founder

Lawrence N. Taylor founded Christina in 1977 and serves as the President of Christina. Mr. Taylor has acted as a sponsor for Warburg Pincus, DLJ RECP and Paine Webber. Mr. Taylor is credited with early efforts to revitalize Westwood Village, the introduction of highrise residential development in North Century City, development of the Montana Avenue Shopping District in Santa Monica, and the revitalization of the South Beverly Hills retail-shopping district. A graduate of the University of Southern California, with a degree in accounting and business administration, Mr. Taylor began his professional career as an accountant with Kenneth Leventhal & Company (now Ernst & Young) in Century City. 

David A. Whitehead

Executive Vice President

Mr. Whitehead joined Christina in 1988. He became Director of Property Operations in 1993, and was named Executive Vice President in 1995. A seasoned property manager and operator, with more than 25 years of multi-family, urban-street retail, shopping center and office property experience. Mr. Whitehead is responsible for all of the Fund’s property operations. Mr. Whitehead is a graduate of the University of Oregon where he majored in Political Science and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1987. 

Vincent R. Chan

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Chan joined Christina as Chief Financial Officer in 2015. Mr. Chan has over 15 years experience in the real estate industry. He has held senior financial positions at American Homes 4 Rent (NYSE:AMH), American Commercial Equities, LLC, Public Storage Canadian Properties (TSX: PUB) and PS Business Parks, Inc. (NYSE: PSB). He is also an Ernst & Young alumnus. Mr. Chan earned a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University of Northridge with an emphasis in accounting.

Lloyd F. Hussey

Director Acquisitions and Underwriting

Mr. Hussey joined Christina as Director – Acquisitions and Underwriting in 2015. Mr. Hussey has over 10 years of real estate experience. He spent five years in the securities industry raising capital for private equity funds with a focus on real estate and infrastructure. Mr. Hussey later joined Ernst & Young’s (“EY”) real estate M&A transaction advisory services group and led EY’s real property valuation for the $10 billion Albertson’s Safeway merger. Mr. Hussey earned a B.S. in Marketing with a minor in English Literature from Georgetown University and a dual MBA/Master of Real Estate Development degree from the University of Southern California.

Bryan Mashian

General Counsel

Mr. Mashian serves as Christina’s General Counsel. Mr. Mashian spent nearly 20 years with Buchalter Nemer, one of the largest Los Angeles based law firms, where he served as head of the real estate group. He received his B.A. from the University of California Los Angeles and his J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles School Of Law, where he was Editor of the UCLA Law Review. Mr. Mashian has been the Christina’s outside general counsel since 1995.

Daniel G. Katayama

CPA

Mr. Katayama has served as Christina’s Certified Public Accountant since 2001, providing tax planning and compliance advisory services. He has a 26-year career in real estate taxation. Mr. Katayama has worked for Parks Palmer Turner & Yeminjian, Klaiman Sedgwick Bush & Company, Creative Artists Agency, Dreyer Edmonds & Associates, and American Express Tax and Business Services. He holds an undergraduate degree in business administration and economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
